The Point of Poipu is back on the Safe Travels Program
Effective April 5, the island of Kauai is returning to the state’s Safe Travels program for trans-pacific travelers. Along with travelers entering any of the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai travelers must receive a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of travel to be exempt from the 10-day quarantine. More details about this program can be found at the Hawaii State Department of Health Website.

Coronavirus (Covid-19): Participants in Enhanced Movement Quarantine (EMQ) program exempt from 10-day mandatory self-quarantine

As of January 5, 2021, travelers who participate in the Enhanced Movement Quarantine (EMQ) program shall be exempt from the 10-day mandatory self-quarantine described in Sections IV.B and V of the Governor’s Proclamation if they provide confirmation of negative test results from two separate, approved COVID-19 tests administered to the traveler. Travelers must take a COVID-19 diagnostic test with an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). The first test shall be administered within 72 hours from the final leg of departure of their trip to Kaua‘i. The second shall be administered 72 hours or more after their time of entry on Kaua‘i.

Under Kaua’i’s amended Emergency Rule 23, travelers who have been in the State of Hawaii for more than 72 hours, may be exempt from the 10-day quarantine if they can provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken less than 72 hours before inter-island travel, and by following these steps.
